Ingredients 

Candy Ingredients

  • 2 cups Granulated sugar
  • ½ cup Light corn syrup
  • ¼ cup Water
  • ½ teaspoon Peppermint extract
  • 1 teaspoon Red food coloring

Instructions 

  1. Preheat your oven to 200°F (93°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a saucepan, combine the sugar, corn syrup, and water. Stir over medium heat until the sugar dissolves.
  3. Bring the mixture to a boil without stirring until it reaches 300°F (150°C) on a candy thermometer.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in the peppermint extract.
  5. Divide the mixture in half. Add red food coloring to one half.
  6. Pour each half onto separate baking sheets and let cool slightly.
  7. Once cool enough to handle, pull and twist each color into ropes. Twist the red and white ropes together to form candy canes.
  8. Shape into candy canes and place on the prepared baking sheet to cool completely.
