Ingredients

  • 3 cups Whole Wheat Flour
  • 1 cup Warm Water
  • ¼ cup Maple Syrup as a honey substitute
  • 2 tablespoon Olive Oil
  • 1 tablespoon Active Dry Yeast
  • 1 teaspoon Salt

Instructions 

  1. 1. In a large mixing bowl, combine warm water and maple syrup. Sprinkle yeast on top and let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. 2. Add olive oil, whole wheat flour, and salt to the yeast mixture. Stir until a dough forms.
  3. 3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. 4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. 5. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Punch down the dough and shape it into a loaf. Place it in a greased loaf pan.
  6. 6. Bake for 30 minutes or until the bread sounds hollow when tapped. Let it cool before slicing.
