Ingredients 

Main Ingredients

  • 1 cup basmati rice
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 carrot, diced
  • 0.5 cup peas
  • 0.5 cup green beans, chopped
  • 0.5 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon garam masala
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish

Instructions 

  1. Rinse the basmati rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Soak for 15 minutes.
  2. In a pot, bring 2 cups of water to a boil. Add the soaked rice and a pinch of salt. Cook until the rice is done and water is absorbed. Set aside.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
  4. Add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
  5. Add diced carrots, peas, and green beans. Cook for 5-7 minutes until vegetables are tender.
  6. Add turmeric powder, garam masala, and salt. Mix well.
  7. Add the cooked rice to the pan and gently mix to combine with the vegetables and spices.
  8. Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve hot.
