Ingredients 

Main Ingredients

  • 1 cup rice
  • 1 block firm tofu
  • ½ cup panko breadcrumbs
  • ¼ cup flour
  • ¼ cup water
  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • ¼ cup mirin
  • ¼ cup vegetable broth
  • ½ onion sliced onion
  • 1 green onion chopped green onion
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vegetable oil

Instructions 

  1. Cook rice according to package instructions.
  2. Press tofu to remove excess water, then cut into slices.
  3. Coat tofu slices in flour, dip in water, then coat in panko breadcrumbs.
  4. Heat oil in a pan and fry tofu until golden brown. Set aside.
  5. In a separate pan, combine soy sauce, mirin, vegetable broth, sugar, and onion. Simmer until onions are soft.
  6. Add fried tofu to the pan and simmer for a few more minutes.
  7. Serve tofu and sauce over rice, garnished with green onions.
